The Imperial Theatre – need I say more?

The Imperial Theater is located in downtown Augusta GA at 745 Broad Steet, and is home to the Augusta Ballet, Augusta Opera, and Augusta Players. Originally opened in 1918 and named after the Imperial Theatre in New York, it’s stage has been graced by many celebrities including Charlie Chaplin in 1918.

The Imperial Theatre’s season calendar is packed with movies, plays, musicians and more. Some of the upcoming events include

  • Mademoiselle Hood Meets Le Wolf, presented by Storyland Theatre. The kids are sure to love this one! For ticket information, contact Storyland Theatre at 706-736-3455. I believe shows are $5 per person, and active duty military and their families are admitted for free. March 23-27, 2010.
  • An Evening with Robert Earl Keen - His latest album hit #1 on the Americana charts, and he is widely known as one of Texas’s great storytellers. March 27, 2010 at 8pm.
  • A Day at the Imperial: Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - another kid favorite! The 1971 classic film will kick off the day’s events at 10am on April 17, 2010. Tickets are $3 and you’ll want to make sure you’re present for the unveiling of the Imperial Theatre’s new logo.
