Day 32 – Cold Creek Nursery in Aiken, SC

by Stacie Wells on April 5, 2010

Yes, I know. This isn’t Augusta. However, Aiken is just a short 25 minute drive from Augusta, and this little spot is definitely worth knowing about if you love to garden as much as I do. I’ll be sure to cover Green Thumb and some of the other Augusta nurseries in upcoming posts. We’ll just start at Aiken and work our way back – how’s that sound?

Cold Creek Nursery

Cold Creek is definitely tops in my book. They have some of the best selections in the area, and a really wide variety of products. Their tree selection is huge, and always includes hard-to-find varieties. They also have several greenhouses. In these you’ll find tropicals, annuals, water garden/bog plants, ferns, ornamental grasses, and potted arrangements that are perfect for your home or office. They always have tons of hostas, Japanese maples, and several hard-to-find Southern shrubs and flowers. What else? A giftshop that includes pottery, garden art, iron work and other cute collectibles. They also have a variety of seeds.

The best way to get there is from Downtown Augusta – take the Aiken-Augusta Hwy (Gordon Highway in Augusta). Follow this road until you get to the Aiken Bypass (Hwy 118 or Hitchcock Pkwy.). Take a right onto the Bypass, and Cold Creek will be just ahead on your left – across from Hitchcock Woods.

If you’ve never been, it’s worth the drive! ENJOY.
