Feathered Friends Forever may not be well-known in the Augusta area, but their Paradise Parrot Park has been open to the public since May of 2006. They are the largest non-profit parrot rescue in America.
The park is located on 10 acres in Harlem GA and contains a total of 17 outdoor flight areas. It is currently home to about 800 birds, about 300 of which are adoptable. Although not all are adoptable, they all need sponsors, as the birds currently require over 1800 pounds of food per month.
If you’d like to visit, the park is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am – 5pm. There is no admission fee, but a tax deductable donation is encouraged and appreciated. Flip flops, raw peanuts, chocolate, and avocados are forbidden, but the birds love getting treats such as fresh fruits, nuts, and veggies. Don’t forget your camera!

Another thing that might be especially good to know for soldiers at Fort Gordon is that Feathered Friends is a military deployment facility to keep birds while their owners are serving overseas. They are also a Hurricane Evacuation Route parrot shelter.
