Augusta GA Open Houses

Open houses are always a great way to get an overview of the available homes for sale, especially if you’re still in the initial fact-finding stages of buying a home. I previewed several Augusta GA open houses today, including a few Martinez GA homes that would be great options for first time home buyers:

Augusta GA Relocation

If you’re planning on relocating to Augusta GA, and you haven’t had time to get to know the area yet, you may not know about some of the surrounding suburbs such as Evans, Martinez, Grovetown, Harlem, Appling, and Hephzibah GA. All of these suburbs are located in Columbia County with the exception of Hephzibah. While Augusta has the Riverwalk, the fabulous shops along Broad Street, museums and more, one of the things that Columbia County excels in is community events.

The Columbia County Community Events Calendar is always loaded with family friendly options such as blues concerts at the Columbia County amphitheater (behind the Columbia County Library in Evans GA), Family Movie Matinees at the PAC, outdoor movies, and a Christian Music Series among other things. Coming up soon is the ESPN BASSmasters fishing tournament at Wildwood Park at Clarks Hill Lake in Appling GA.

So whether you choose to live in Augusta, or in one of the suburbs in Columbia County, take comfort in knowing that there will always be a myriad of activities going on close by in Evans, Martinez, Grovetown, Harlem, or Appling. It certainly makes for a great place to raise a family!

Evans GA Neighborhoods in Greenbrier School District

Starting with my last post, “Lakeside School District Homes For Sale in Evans GA“, I’m attempting to answer questions that I often get about homes for sale in particular Columbia County school districts. In addition to questions about Lakeside High School, I also get many inquiries about homes that fall into the Greenbrier High School District. If you’re still in the process of researching school districts, you may want to look at the 2008 – 2009 GA report card for Greenbrier High School. You’ll see that Greenbrier High surpassed the achievements of the Columbia County School District as a whole.

If you’ve decided on Greenbrier High as a potential school district that you’d like to live in, there are several great Evans GA subdivisions to choose from. The most obvious of these would be the neighborhoods that make up Riverwood Plantation, as Greenbrier Elementary, Greenbrier Middle School, and Greenbrier High School are located in the center of this beautiful Evans GA community.

Other Evans GA subdivisions which feed Greenbrier High include Berkley Hills, Birchwood, Bridlewood, Chimney Hill, Eagle Landing, Hamilton Village, Hardy Pointe, Highgrove @ Williamsburg, Somerset @ Williamsburg, Jessica Creek, Kiokee Ridge, Knob Hill, Maple Ridge, Maple’s Ferry, Northridge, Northwood, One Marshall Place, Rivershyre, Stratford, Summerlin, Sumter Landing, The Villages of Greenbrier, Walton Woods, and Windmill Plantation.

You’ll find a wide array of amenities in these neighborhoods, with some having Clubhouses, golf courses, pools, walking trails and more. As of the time of this writing, there are approximately 475 homes for sale in the Greenbrier High School District. Of those, there are close to 100 new construction, and 14 bank-owned homes.

Lakeside School District Homes For Sale in Evans GA

Usually the first question that a potential Buyer asks me is “What school district is this home in?” or “What neighborhoods fall into this particular school district?”. In an effort to answer these questions, I’m going to post on the schools that I receive the most questions about – starting with Lakeside High School in Evans GA.

If you’re still researching schools and haven’t decided on a school district yet, you can view the 2008 – 2009 annual state report card for Lakeside High School. You’ll see that for the 2008 – 2009 school year, Lakeside High School exceeded the achievements of the Columbia County GA school district as a whole.

Assuming that you’ve done your research and have decided on Lakeside High as a potential school district that you’d like to reside in, let’s take a look at some of the neighborhood choices that you have. Again, always check with the CCBOE to verify zoning by calling Emily Truan at (706)541-2723, ext. 5203 or Tina Dross at (706)541-2723, ext. 5202. Some of the neighborhoods you’ll have to choose from include West Lake, Jones Creek, Barrington, River Island, Rhodes Farm, Chaparral, Jones Creek Plantation, Jones Station, Forest Creek, Carriage Hills, Stevens Point, Lakeside Landing, Barrett Place, Baker Woods, Halifax North, Riverstone, Watervale, Wexford, Petersburg Station, The Preserve @ Stevens Creek, OakBrook, Steeplechase, Hampstead, and Connor Place.

You’ll find a wide array of amenities in these neighborhoods, with some having Clubhouses, golf courses, pools, walking trails and more. There are currently close to 350 homes for sale in the Lakeside High School District, ranging in price from the mid–80s to 1.8+ million. There is literally something to be found in everyone’s price range. As of the time of this writing, over 30 of these homes are new construction, and 10 are bank-owned.
